"I'm Geoff and I have loved being on the board of Star Rock Ministries! Currently, along with being a SRM Board Member, I am the Color Analyst for the Houston Astros television broadcast. I spent 14 years as a professional baseball player for the Montreal Expos, Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, San Diego Padres, Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks. I'm also a husband to Kory and father of four beautiful girls. My oldest daughter is 17 and I have triplets that are 16; yes, triplet girls! They are amazing and have been a blessing to our family. That being said, my wife and I understand the value of community. Without our community, Kory and I would have struggled to make it this far on our own.
When I was 11 years old my parents sent me to Alpine Summer Camp, a Christian camp up by Lake Arrowhead, CA. I had a blast and really enjoyed growing new friendships and a deeper faith in Jesus. I wanted to provide the same opportunity for my daughters. We began sending them to Emerald Cove Day Camp and eventually Yosemite Sierra Summer Camp every summer. It has been a true blessing to our family to have a camp that holds similar values as we do and encourages faith in God. Our kids always returned from camp renewed and inspired by their time with staff, friends and the incredible outdoors. It’s my deep hope to help kids who could not otherwise get to camp fully enjoy the impact of camp and community."
One of the camps that Geoff has been intricately involved with in Houston is called Manhood Camp. This unique urban camp is designed for at-risk, teen boys throughout the Houston area. The mission is to develop faith, self-worth, practical skills and mentorships in teenage boys who have often experienced deep father wounds. As Geoff helps expand the mission of Star Rock Ministries into Houston, we look forward to sharing more stories like Cryan's of the impact of camp.
